PSC to Hold Third, In-Person Public Hearing for Pepco Rate Case
May 13, 2026
Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a third hearing – this one in-person – to receive public input on Potomac Electric Power Company’s proposal to increase its electric distribution rates. The hearing will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 6 p.m. at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center, 7120 Contee Road in Laurel. (Two previous hearings were held virtually in April.) The utility’s customers and other stakeholders are welcome to attend and provide comments to the Commissioners.
Pepco serves approximately 610,000 customers in parts of Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. In October 2025, the company applied to increase its annual revenues by $133 million. Subsequently, Pepco withdrew its proposal to include forecasted expenditures, instead basing its case on spending that has already occurred, resulting in a request for an annual revenue requirement of $119.4 million. According to Pepco, under the proposed rate, the average residential customer would see a monthly bill increase of $10.24.
